Hi Jon,
I have been wondering about its optimization for the diffrent cpus, ie
pentiums, madK6 ect... I would be nice to know how it compares to suse in instal/system admin and preformance wise. I've already posted this tonight, but in case you missed it..:) Mandrake does seem to be a little 'snappier', that is to say, it's not faster really, but it feels quick. When you initiate something, like opening a KFM window, the display reacts quicker. That does not mean that it comes up in less time, it just starts moving immediately (does that make any sense?). LinuxConf has evolved a lot since the last time I played with it. The interface is friendly, but not overly bloated. Network configuration was very easy, which leads me to the decision that Mandrake will be on my gateway box. I installed YaST (yeah, it worked :) ), so I'm not missing any administration tools. I haven't had a chance to compile a kernel yet (which is the only thing that I ever care about as far as speed), but that really shouldn't be any different.
Would be interested to know how it works out.
It's working out well. Not well enough for me to leave SuSE, but it is nice. Maybe I'll teach my girlfriend on a Mandrake box...maybe not. -=|JP|=- (Resident GNUbie) Jon Pennington | SuSE Linux 6.0 jon_pennington@excite.com | Kernel 2.2.10 Kansas City, Missouri, USA | K6-2 350 _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/ -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/ and the archive at http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html
