Re: [SuSE Linux] Linux as Internet gateway
I'm also a newbie (be warned!) but am about to do what you are tallking about.... Use YaST to install IP Masquerading (and also perhaps the Firewall?) Then just follow the instructions in the SuSe book (which don't make too much sense UNTILL you install the software... then all becomes clearer.) You have to put the setup details into one of the config files (the book tells you which) and... well thats as far as I have got, but it looks pretty straighforward - I'll do the actual deed when I get back to work next week. Hi all,
I'm a relative newbie with Linux. Uptill now i managed to get my ISDN card and 3Com card working. So that's ok. I also can dial my IPS from my Linux PC. I have a small home network, including my Linux PC and a Win95 PC of my kids. I can mount the Win95 PC with smbmount etc.
Now I want to give my kids access to the internet trough my Linux PC. Is this possible? And if it is possible how is it done. Is it called Gateway? Is it done trough Samba or Apache, or not at all by these two servers. What are the settings on the Win95 PC? Where can I find documentation man pages or Howto's on this subject?
Any info will be helpful, as I already searched for man pages, and on the Samba and Apache Internet sites, but could not find anything like this.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
