After a clean install of SuSE 7.0 on a 20GB Maxtor hard drive, I cannot boot unless I use the supplied boot disk. I get as far as: LIL- Ok, this means there's a bad descriptor table. How do I fix this. Will the new Lilo version (21.6 ? ) in the 7.0 update directory fix it? Partitions: /boot Blocks 0 - 15 swap Blocks 16 - 1055 / Blocks 1056 - 32,xxx (rest of drive) TIA, Mike -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Cleary UNIX Qualification and Commands Data General, a Division of EMC2 62 T.W. So what you are saying when you boot from the floppy you can get in Linux OK when you boot without floppy you only get to " LIL- " Question; Have you booted to Linux and re-saved to the master boot record, using KLILO? KLILO is the graphical one, I used it to increase the 3 seconds wait time to 6, then just after it boots to the LILO part I hit "Enter" key for the default option. (smart thinking on SuSE's part, to have this option) save typing in the default option or waiting 6 seconds Their is also a TEXT version of KLILO.

Also a handy litle tip, before you re install windows or Microsucks OS, make
sure you boot floopy works OK,
