[opensuse] OpenSuse 11.0 Mass deployment
Dear All, Are there any tools that allow me to take an image of installed software and configuration from an opensuse 11 system and roll it out across multiple machines where the only difference is the IP address and hostname (which can be handled with DHCP) Thanks Stuart -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Dear All,
Are there any tools that allow me to take an image of installed software and configuration from an opensuse 11 system and roll it out across multiple machines where the only difference is the IP address and hostname (which can be handled with DHCP)
AFAIK, you could apply this with autoyast. Autoyast will provided a pre-configuration for unattended installation -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog/index.php Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I am using this autoyast.xml for fully automatic installation, except for partitioning, which requires manual intervention as most users that bring their box to our office want multiboot with other OSs. http://cyberorg.kicks-ass.org/autoyast-everything.xml As name suggests, it installs everything including gnome, kde4, many packman packages, binary drivers etc. I have local repository with downloaded packages here. It also creates default user "geeko". Hope this helps -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can do it in combination with pxe-boot. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Any disk duplication method will do that, assuming the hardware is identical. There is also a method, in Yast, of saving the configuration so that you can build multiple systems with the same basic configuration. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
