I am building one myself but at present I've disabled all the rules so as HOWTO explains I should have everything going out and coming in. Should I stop IP forwarding as well or maybe setup a rule to forward/receive everything ? The network card for the internal network is giving me problems that's why I would like to download the latest drives (3c509B) from an ftp site. Jeremy Blosser wrote:

Are you behind any kind of firewall or proxy?

How much mem. swap and hard drive space do you have available? I as because I experienced something similar and found in my case that the box I was telnetting/ftping to didn't have enough memory to support my requests, the system I was connecting to was an old 486 with only 4mg of ram and a 200mb hd. which I had used 40mg swap on before installation, sure enough, the mem and swap would get maxed out immediately when it started actively using the services that were loaded. -- Ec|ipse on EFnet - tomas@primenet.com - <A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A">http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A> Ec|ipse@|Watcher| - <A HREF="http://pacific.undertow.net/~tomas/no-net.html</A">http://pacific.undertow.net/~tomas/no-net.html</A> Slackware Linux v3.6 - Kernels 2.0.35/2.1.131 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
