[SuSE Linux] UDS-11 SCSI card
I have a uds-11 scsi card tha came with a Umax scanner. I don't have the scanner (someone gave the card to me), but I have a CD-burner that i want to connect to it. I don't know anything about this card, and can't get any info from Umax's web site. If anyone knows anything about the card, please help. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Pardon my french, but that card is a piece of shit. If you're really determined to make it work, there should be an product ID silk-screened on the card. It is an Adaptec card with no BIOS. Build support for it into a new kernel and it should work. My advice, get an adaptec with a BIOS like a 2940. lunaslide * PGP key->pgpkeys.mit.edu port 11371 * * * * * * * Cornflakes are not the innocent critters they seem to be. * -Sterling Morrison * * * * * * * * - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Ha,ha ever wonder why they gave it away?

That card will probably give you alot of trouble with any cd burner running faster than 1x.

That is perfect french regarding that card. I tried a couple of kernel builds to get that card to work as an Adaptec...no go. The only good use for that card, is if you have an old 486 that you want to use as a dedicated controller for the scanner.

I don't think that the card is going to work. I have a SCSI UMAX scanner at work and tried to connect a zip drive to it. Wouldn't work. It would show the zip but I couldn't mount or access the disks in any way. Called UMAX and they said that the card wouldn't support storage devices. The zip drive worked right away once I found a crazy cyntronix to 25 pin cable and connected it to my other scsi card. You might want to look into using a different SCSI card. -Kyle kyle@binary.net - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
