[opensuse] Upgrading oracle jdk curiosity
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm trying to upgrade jdk from oracle to jdk-8u151-linux-x64.rpm. They have changed the rpm internal naming scheme again. YaST sees it as "1.8", while the currently installed is seen as jdk1.8.0_144. To see what was going on, I tried manually: # zypper install jdk-8u151-linux-x64.rpm Retrieving repository 'Local RPMs' metadata .................................[done] Building repository 'Local RPMs' cache ......................................[done] Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... The following NEW package is going to be installed: jdk1.8 The following application is going to be REMOVED: "Rodent package manager plugin" <================== 1 new package to install. Overall download size: 166,1 MiB. Already cached: 0 B. After the operation, additional 276,4 MiB will be used. Continue? [y/n/...? shows all options] (y): n # - -- Cheers Carlos E. R.
