Okay, I realize "buying" music downloads is a novel concept, but follow me. My wife uses AOL (I'm digging deeper, I know) and they have a MusicNet service. The problem is that MusicNet seems to download to a proprietary dbf file. So you can burn the songs to CD or (supposedly) move them to a player. I don't know why they can't be saved normally, but apparently they cannot. I want to burn her downloads to CD on my Linux box. This not only satisfies her music jones, but it also saves my hardware from Dr. Evil...er....Gates! Is anyone using a music service? Anyone have any ideas? I know this isn't SuSE specific, sorry. -- <<JAV>>
Joe, I read somewhere that Crossover now supports iTunes using the latest version of wine they distribute. I'm not sure if all features are supported though (burning CD's for example). You might want to check it out. http://www.codeweavers.com/ Mike Sacco -----Original Message----- From: Joe Polk [mailto:listuser@javelinux.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 07, 2004 11:03 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] Online Music Okay, I realize "buying" music downloads is a novel concept, but follow me. Yeah, I'd like to avoid Codeweavers if possible though. Worth considering, though.

Could take a look at emusic.com or allofmp3.com too. Matt On Tuesday 07 December 2004 22:22, Randall R Schulz wrote:

Why? It's good software and very affordable.
Worth considering, though.

For a small, though quite an attractive, range of music, and a great "shareware" approach to music, you should look at http://www.magnatune.com. -- Pob hwyl (Best wishes) Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg www.cymrux.org.uk - Linux Cymraeg ar un CD!
Oh, don't misunderstand it has nothing to do with them or whether I think it's
good. I just don't want to run anything written for Windows at this time.

That's a pretty odd criterion, isn't it? I can see why you might want to boycot a particular vendor, say Microsoft, but why arbitrarily exclude software based on the platform for which its written? iTunes, e.g., is Apple software.
