hmm... the one P1 fan I had finally broke [choked to death on dust] turns out the CPU it was being used for wasn't generating enough heat to need it anyway [the aforementiond 486]

at $9.95 at the local store for a "new" one, you'll pay more for "cheap ground postage" anyway...

long story short, I think you'll find many "linux" types are like me when it comes to "old hardware" -- it never "goes away", it just gets recycled into machines that "keep pressing on" in lesser duties - i.e., the "486" that was my "main machine" from 1990-1995 is now a firewall, the 233 "p1" that replaced it is now my "tape backup server"; the 266 P-II I used at work (and subsequently got to "take home" when the parent company closed the local office) is now a general file-server/web-server/etc-server; the 466 celeron I'm using now is due to be replaced soon (make that "as soon as I get a job"; till then it has to "make do") when it does, it will become the first installment into a "renderfarm" for background video processing (using cinelarra) The "truly excess hardware" I have is either broken or far too old for your tastes [not to mention expensive to ship from california, even if by "surface mail" :) ]
