RedHat 7.3 - Cannot log in after upgrade
Has anyone else experienced this: On two occasions, (once a new build and once an upgrade from RH7.2), I have been unable to log into the machine either as ROOT or as a USER? Regards, Jacques.

--- --- I had a problem when the passwords I created for root and myself as regular user did not work after an installation of SuSE 8.0. I use the Dvorak keyboard (English language), which I believe may have contributed to the problem. I reinstalled SuSE and chose simple, all lowercase alphabet-only passwords during installation, then later changed them to something more complex after I sucessfully logged in, using the passwd command on the command line. The keyboard keymap may have changed during the installation. Write your password in a field which displays characters (not just stars) to check them and keep in mind that ROOT and root are different accounts. Also note this list is about SuSE Linux. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
