[opensuse] ' loading initial ramdisk ' forever
I would like to install opensuse 13.1 on my lenovo B590 (uefi bios, win 8 preinstalled) but i cannot start the installation process, because booting from cd freezes while 'loading the initial ramdisk ' Any hints? Check the DVD for errors caused by wrong burning. There is possibility to do it from the very first menu You see when booting from DVD (I think Your freezing is in later stage, but I'm not sure) or on another computer with openSUSE in YaST. No way. I have checked my cd using k3b, it should be error free. I have also burned another cd, same result. I have used the 64bit kde official iso and the kde live official iso. Booting from usb does not work, although it is the first choice in the booting sequence. paolo On Wed, Jul 9, 2014 at 1:01 PM, Pol (Admin) <xtekhne@gmail.com> wrote:

(...) odd can you try booting with standard bios (not uefi) - there should be a bios option jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I cannot access the bios option anymore. As suggested by Jdd, i would try to disable uefi, before booting, but pressing F1 does not work any more. Lenovo always boots to win 8 Any hints? thank you paolo On Wed, Jul 9, 2014 at 1:01 PM, Pol (Admin) <xtekhne@gmail.com> wrote:

modern computer boot very fast, may be keeping the finger on the key from the beginning? Are you sure it's F1? it's often F2, ESC or even other keys jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I have tried both f1 and f2, pressing from the beginning, no change: booting to win I have heard that, in windows, you can set a 'quick boot' option, Perhaps that has been set automatically? I do not know windows... thank you paolo On Thu, Jul 10, 2014 at 9:30 AM, jdd <jdd@dodin.org> wrote:

sometime, pressing many keys at the same time (moving the hand on the keyboard) at boot triggers a "keyboard error" and send to the bios. difficult to say more remotely :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
