[opensuse] install-new-recommends auto-agree-with-licenses
Hello, after adding the Nvidie repositories I'm trying to install-new-recommends with the following command: zypper --non-interactive install-new-recommends Then I get the following Warning: 92 new packages to install. Overall download size: 108.9 MiB. Already cached: 0 B. After the operation, additional 431.9 MiB will be used. Continue? [y/n/v/...? shows all options] (y): y Do you agree with the terms of the license? [yes/no] (no): no Aborting installation due to the need for license confirmation. Please restart the operation in interactive mode and confirm your agreement with required licenses, or use the --auto-agree-with-licenses option. In this case the problem is the Nvidia license. But there is no way to combine install-new-recommends with --auto-agree-with-licenses I tried different orders like zypper install-new-recommends --auto-agree-with-licenses The flag --auto-agree-with-licenses is not known zypper --auto-agree-with-licenses install-new-recommends The flag --auto-agree-with-licenses is not known. Is there any other way to install new recommends with auto accept licenses? I haven't found a way with the nvidia drivers. 4-separate prompts to agree (you would think one would be enough) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

not using the repo but direct install: sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.xxxx.run -aqs has worked for me for years. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Now that I will have to try! install dkms, enable the dkms service and add --dkms: sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.xxxx.run -aqs --dkms It will take care of automatic rebuild of the driver on a kernel update.

I did this a long time, but since we have a ton of different graphic cards we can no longer use the same Nvidia driver for all cards. So we started having a list which driver supports which card, checking the current card before installing the matching driver. If it would be possible to use the nvidia repository and the install-new-recommends without accepting the licenses it would be much easier. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I was intrigued by the mention of DKMS but know nothing about it. I use an out-of-tree driver that causes me pain every time there is a kernel update. Can DKMS help? What do I have to do to use it with this driver? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

why a "pain" ??? simple cl: ./NVI.......run -aqs and return to graphics target -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's not a graphics driver; it's a TV card driver; sorry, meant to mention that. Anyway, it's a pain because it has to be rebuilt and reinstalled every time I install a kernel update. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You need to create dkms.conf file for your module that describes how to build module, how to install module, how to uninstall module etc. See dkms man page. If you are on Leap, creating KMP may be more useful. It is probably more steep learning curve, but once KMP is installed it will be automatically used by all subsequent kernel updates; there is no need to recompile module every time. Also you do not need development tools on target system. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
