Could someone help with this: I have been trying to fix this problem for several days--everytime I try to compile something that requires GTK, I get this: checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.3... Headers vs. library version mismatch! no configure: error: Please check that gtk-config is in path, the directory where GTK+ libraries are installed (returned by 'gtk-config --libs' command) is in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or equivalent variable and GTK+ is version 1.2.3 or above. or checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.6... *** GTK+ header files (version 1.2.7) do not match *** library (version 1.2.8) no configure: error: Cannot find GTK: Is gtk-config in path? Yes, gtk-config is in the path. Yes, I've uninstalled/reinstalled gtk+, I've even checked both copies of gtk-config to make sure they are the same file (it wasn't initially--but fixing this didn't help). Yes, I've checked the paths. Am I missing something simple? Or do I need to edit a header file somewhere (and, if so, where?) Specs: SuSE 6.4 with helix-gnome + icewm (yes, I updated with helix's versions of GTK and Glib). I dunno for the helix gnome packages, but packages are often split in two parts: the binaries/libraries and the headers/developing stuff. They may be named gtk+-1.2.8.rpm and gtk+-devel-1.2.8.rpm (names are examples) and you have probably updated the binary packages and not the developement ones.
