[opensuse] Using Network Manager-openvpn-kde - OpenSUSE 11.0
I have installed OpenVPN & the NetworkManager-openvpn-kde application, to use with KNetworkManager. However, I don't see how to use it. What am I missing? tnx jk -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
There are an icon in notification area, just click, and select the configure VPN, after your configuration, you will connect the vpn directly from the pop menu. On Tue, Jul 1, 2008 at 11:18 AM, James Knott <james.knott@rogers.com> wrote:

I just discovered it only works with X.509 configurations and I use static. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Does "preshared key" work for static? On Tue, Jul 1, 2008 at 11:36 AM, James Knott <james.knott@rogers.com> wrote:

I finally found OpenVPN in Knetworkmanager, under "Edit Connections". I use that to set up a VPN, using pre-shared key, but still no go. Has anyone got this working with a pre-shared key? In the past, I'd always used my own scripts to run OpenVPN, but I thought I'd try using Knetworkmanager this time. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had no chance yet to try OpenVPN with KNetworkManager. If you can figure out what's going wrong I'm glad to fix it :) Maybe you can find some hints in /var/log/NetworManager? Could you please check if openvpn is running few seconds after starting the connection (ps aux | grep openvpn)? Helmut -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yep, if I do that immediately after selecting the VPN, I see a line containing /usr/bin/nm-openvpn-server, but it's not there a few seconds later. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Did you already try nm-applet? Maybe KNM behaves incorrect. Helmut -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've started nm-applet, but when I try to configure a VPN, the OK button is greyed out, so I can't save anything. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just discovered it doesn't support static keys. Oh well. :-( -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Can you file a bugreport explaining what you want it to do? Will -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The readme already says it's a "to do". -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
