First, try "sux -" (with a minus). This will "reinitialize" your environment. Does it fix the problem? - -- Thibaut Cousin E-mail : cousin@in2p3.fr Web : http://clrwww.in2p3.fr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE90VUJv1vqsTa1E4oRAmq8AJ9ukpRdlTn5+xmLes2hL6OE3qEbbQCgjQij 0CsmCAv779zdBRLkeMxkrdA= =j2J5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Nope it did not fix the problem. still get the same error message when I try to run yast2 as a regular user.
Make a few tries (completely separate): 1) "kdesu -c /sbin/yast2" 2) "sux -" and then "yast2" 3) "xhost +localhost" then "sux -" then "export DISPLAY=:0" then "yast2" Does any of those work? If I wasn't clear enough about the way to use these commands, please let me know. - -- Thibaut Cousin E-mail : cousin@in2p3.fr Web : http://clrwww.in2p3.fr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE90nCfv1vqsTa1E4oRAqN6AJ4iztWFJzO9laydGtS86b678hHibgCcDLCT gbv8xbOSP85e7wW7pT3P0rM= =xcb4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

su to root. Then do rm /root/.Xauthority then exit from root and try the sux again Anders
