[SuSE Linux] Zip 100 ATAPI ?!?
Hi, does anyone knows how to get a IOMega ZIP 100 ATAPI (internal IDE) to work? At boot time it's correctly recognized at HDB, but when I try to access to /dev/hdb or /dev/hdb0 it fails... Greetings,
Could someone give an example of how to patch, let's say, linux-2.2.2 to .3?
(I've been at 2.2.3 from sources, but I want to get ready to patch .3 to get to .4 when it comes out.)
In my case, I setup /usr/src/linux-2.2.2 and symlinked to linux. The patch file(patch-2.2.3) is sitting in /usr/src.
The kernel howto says to do this from /usr/src: patch -p0 < patch-2.2.3
When I do this, it deviates from the howto and asks for the file to patch!!? I am lost as to what to do now. From other reading, it seems to hint that the patch file needs the absolute path to the code to be patched, but this does not seem reasonable.
I must be doing something silly here, so someone please set me straight!!
Lost in Houston.

I had some trouble with mine also. Have you tried /dev/hdb2 to /dev/hdb4? I read, that in some cases itŽs always the 4th partition. mine shows and works as /dev/hdd. My major trouble was the undocumented jumper that put it in atapi mode from whatever mode. Since you see hdb on bootup, I recon itŽs not that jumper, cause I didnŽt see anything. the easiest way to get this working is to use scsi emulation I think. I found out about it and its advantages at linuxgazette, may 1988 issue, in the "2-cents" area. This worked flawlessly for me though it did mean a kernel recompile. chris On 20-Mar-99 Juergen Braukmann wrote:

Germano, A Zip drive's device is /dev/hdX4, where X is a, b, c, or d, assuming you only have 2 IDE connectors. On your system, you should be able to access your Zip at /dev/hdb4. Hope this helps.
