-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 SuSE 9.1 I recently installed SuSE 9.1. I installed jpilot, and restored my ~/.jpilot directory. For whatever reason, I can't synch anymore. The palm pilot is still on the same USB port. As I restored .jpilot, all the settings should be (have to be?) identical to before I reloaded SuSE, but it's as if it doesn't see the Palm. Can anyone offer any help? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFA4tmrjeziQOokQnARAuIyAJ0bezHk8e8srUh8ZI97lc3raTvGNwCfbmKV w6xfLQEfilZmVVJ16rZ0yhs= =XYbC -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

It didn't work, but at least now I'm getting some feedback. When I tried to synch, I got the following messages: pi_bind illegal seek check your serial port and setting Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND Finished. I've rechecked my settings, and they are Device ttyUSB1 I set the rate to 57600 bps, but that's not supposed to affect USB Help! OK. The thing to check first is what port your Palm is connecting on. The easy way to do this is with tail -f /var/log/messages and then to plug in the Palm and start a Hotsync. The output should show the ports that it's connecting to (or an error if there's a problem). Next, try pilot-xfer -p /dev/usb/ttyUSB1 -l This should list the databases on your Palm - if it fails, try /dev/usb/ttyUSB0. Once this works, put the same information into JPilot and all should go fine. I have the same problems but my spin is that i have a conflict with the user and ID number. My question is how does one input a name and number that will overwrite/update the current null number that exists?????? everything is ok except that jpilot will not do anything withn a null user ID number in place. Check the man page for pilot-link/pilot-xfer. I had to do something like this myself one time - it is possible :-) John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Fields of Valour: 2 Norse clans battle on one of 3 different boards

Since you restored your ~/.jpilot have a look at the owner/perms. UID's changed from earlier versions, from 500 min to 1000 min. -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998 (5.2)

I changed the owner UID from 1000 back to 500 when I installed. Those are right. Thanks for the idea, though. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFA4yaqjeziQOokQnARAr2hAKCAtRdtgDKcSj+hLIM/82cjH1/hFwCgheyj CnOFpoKVw87RyMR51vb9sWM= =0ioq -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
