Moving an App to another Virtual Desktop in KDE
Hello, I'm running SuSE 9.0 (professional), using KDE as my desktop. I have 6 virtual desktops set up in KDE, and am having trouble moving applications from one virtual desktop to another. When I right-click on the top-left corner of an open application window (where the little app icon is located), scroll down to the "To Desktop" option, and then click on a different desktop...... nothing happens! The application does not move to the selected desktop. When I go to the KDE taskbar, click on the application's icon, and then choose "To Desktop", the application does move to the selected desktop. It seems as if the first method of moving an app (described above) has somehow been disabled. When I used SuSE 8.1, both methods of moving an app to a different virtual desktop worked fine. What's even more strange, is that when I log into KDE as a different user, I can right-click on the top-left corner of an application window, and the "To Desktop" option does not even appear in the context menu! Is there a KDE option to enable / disable this feature? I've checked in the KDE Control Center, but didn't see anything. Thanks very much! Dom

You're right... It doesn't work. But try right clicking on the title bar of the app... and going to the desktop selection. That will work.

Thanks! Yes, it works for me also when I right-click on the title bar. And if I change window decoration from SuSE to KDE 2, then this works by clicking the top-left corner as well. Guess I must have been using a different window decoration back in 8.1 (or else 9.0 has a bug with the SuSE window decoration).

You could download and compile the applet "kicker-pager" from kde-look.org. It's much easier to just drag the app between windows. :) http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6702 I know this doesn't help the original bug but it's a nicer way to do the operation your trying to do. :) I use this applet with 8.2 and 9.0 with no issue. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===--- #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- Why do we bother with a suicide watch when someone is on deathrow?
