[opensuse] Google Earth - invalid HTTP request
I have Google Earth installed on two computers. On both, whenever I try to run a search, I get an error message "invalid HTTP request. I do not see this problem on Windows. I'm running version 6.0.3.2197-0, which is the latest, on openSUSE 12.3. This is a fairly recent problem, as it has work properly in the past. Any ideas? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

For the Record, I have Google Earth version Google Earth 7.1.1.1580 (beta) Build Date 4/19/2013 Build Time 7:38:45 pm installed from Google's own repository. http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/rpm/stable/x86_64 I have no search problem. Then the problem has been fixed in the beta but still exists in the stable version 6.0.3.2197. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have my reposittory configured for that, but even after refreshing the repository, the available version is still listed as 6.0.3.2197-0. When I try the URL with a browser, I get a "404". Perhaps it's down. When I download direct from Google, the version is 7.1.1.1888-0. It doesn't seem to have that problem, but it crashes a lot. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That is typical behavior for a Google Repository. They don't let you in with a browser and maybe not even a ftp client. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Still the version from Google download is newer than I can get from the repo. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Google has three repos, one for stable, one for beta and one for unstable. Pick your poison. :-) -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yast does accept the google-earth repository : http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/rpm/stable/i386 but, Yast does NOT accept the google-earth repository : http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/beta/i386 nor, http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/rpm/unstable/i386 --------------- - perhaps, google do not have earth beta or unstable for i386 .................... best regards -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Apparently this is a widely reported issue, broken for everybody, then fixed for some, but apparently still requires libraries not available for opensuse. See the thread: (last post) https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/earth/_h4t6SpY_II/aFC53F2sKaMJ Andreas Baumann has them but they don't appear anywhere in official repositories. ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/andreas_baumann/openSUSE_12.3/x86_64/ I don't use the images all that often, and hadn't noticed that they don't show up. Not going to install that package. I wish Google had a competent packager. Their rpms frequently fail to mention critical prerequisites. -- Explain again the part about rm -rf / -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It also likes to crash. Don't you love it when people release software that clearly hasn't been tested. Wireshark is another. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Version 7.1.1 is Google's beta version and subject to problems. The URL cannot be loaded in a browser as it a download only URL. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
