Hello list, I have searched but not found what I want to know. I have a TEAC CD-C68E 6-disc-changer and want to mount these 6 volumes to the dirs /mnt/cd/1...to /mnt/cd/6 Now, how do I tell the drive which CD to mount into the mountpoints 1 to 6? It is /dev/hdb but I cannot address like I would do if the 6 discs were partitions. Thanks for help and experience-exchange. Happy 2003! Call me jealous. I didnt know they still made changers though TEAC is an excellent brand. Where did you find it? As I recall from the days of the 4x4 series each counted as a seperate drives but only one could be accessed at once. A poor hardware limit of the Nacamichi changers also sold as NEC and no one else corrected it. It might be necessary to create your own KDE icons but they might have to run to shell scripts to manually unmount the other drive and mount the new one. Perhaps a simple work arround with a system variable call it $Mychanger which would resolve into which drive was currently mounted and another call it $NextDrive which is the one to be mounted. Ha, you being jealous? Want to swap into my situation?

True. Each counted as different device, for example under DOS as D,E,F,G,H,I,J but when you changed the directory device, it changed the disk, so true: Only one disk at a time was accessed. Now that this works fine under DOS (6.22) I want to use this technique under Linux - but how?!

I am not interested in KDE icons, I use Linux all from the console, so how the .... do I mount the cd-changer??? Whenever I mount it, I can access the FIRST cd only, not the second, nor the others. When I understood you correctly, you would want me to make my own icons, yes, but: By what means do I tell mount to access the second (or the other) drives inside that hdb drive? THAT is the question. mount /dev/hdb1,2,3,4,5,6 does not work (one at a time of course!)

Are you unmounting the 'drive' BEFORE you try to mount the next?
