SuSE 9.0 + Tiscali + USB modem
Hi all, I am coming back to the list after a really long time, and shall be entirely selfish, and still hope that you people shall help me. I have my PC running SuSE Linux 9.0 and I have subscribed to Tiscali for broadband services. The modem I have been given by them is a USB modem, Sagem F@ST 800. Yast recognizes the modem as USB ADSL modem and my troubles start here. 1. The modem is configured and it asks for the dialing number, which is 0,38 for Tiscali, UK [from windows settings]. When I specify this number, yast cribs that I should not have a comma in dialing-number. However, when I say I am sure it accepts it. 2. Nothing happens after that. I can not dial out. 3. I downloaded eagle-USB drivers and compiled the same and installed them too - but it seems that I can not install this module. Is that probably because SuSE kernel already has this module built in? Has anyone at all succeeded in using broadband with a USB modem? Or shall it never work for me? Help! Rohit, Request first, then demand they give you a proper modem to use with your computer! The USB modems seldom, if ever work reliably. Every good broadband modem should be able to use ethernet and/or have the option to use either.
