[opensuse] Boot takes 5 or more minutes
I am having a problem booting a system opensuse 11.4. I have a few problems mentioned in boot.msg. Is there a place someone could point me to to understand what the messages mean? Here is one example: 3>[ 3.381051] ata1.00: COMRESET failed (errno=-32) <4>[ 3.381060] ata1.00: reset failed (errno=-32), retrying in 8 secs <4>[ 11.009664] ata1.00: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps <3>[ 13.212214] ata1.00: COMRESET failed (errno=-32) <4>[ 13.212223] ata1.00: reset failed (errno=-32), retrying in 8 secs <3>[ 23.192077] ata1.00: COMRESET failed (errno=-32) <4>[ 23.192086] ata1.00: reset failed (errno=-32), retrying in 33 secs <4>[ 55.919034] ata1.01: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps <3>[ 58.121596] ata1.00: COMRESET failed (errno=-32) <3>[ 58.121604] ata1.00: reset failed, giving up <5> BobR -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You have disk errors of some sort. The OS resets the disk and tries again. Try re-seating or replacing the cable. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
