Hello SuSE,
I want to know how is KDE 2 ? now on Beta, but I'm not try it yet. What's new on there..?
KDE2 has a whole new look. Basically, they have taken the look of KDE and polished it up so that it looks incredible. Koffice is great. I didn't play with it too much, but what I saw was superb. It looked better than some commercial office suites. Other than that, the only things I really noticed were the new file manager/browser. It only looks slightly different from the old one, but is much improved. I actually preferred it to netscape during my short trial. Unfortunately, trying it on a test system running Slackware, it seems like there may be a serious memory leak somewhere in the 1.91 beta. Hopefully this will get taken care of soon. To sum it all up, KDE2 is going to be great, and you should definately look into getting it when it is released.
Victor, does the new file manager/browser support java?
Thanks,
Fred
I do not remember. Off hand, I would say yes, but I don't normally read many pages with java. Victor -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Yes it does, at least from what I have read. It will use the Java Plugin from Blackdown's JDK port. Javascript is also new too. It seems much better than the first version, but there were some serious problems. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Just for the record, konqueror can use any JDK installed on your system (or at least claims) to. Kleopatra -that's KDE 2 beta 2 is simple impressive and konqueror really rocks. You can have two browser views, a graphic preview and a normal list view pane and whatever else you want under the same Konqueror window! Further more it can use Netscape plugins (plugger - xanim, flash etc) in order to preview video and multimedia files. Previous alpha - beta releases of KDE 2 and current beta 1.91 were not intended for daily use, according to the latest release schedulle we' ll have to wait for 2 months or so. Can't wait:-) P.S Koffice is really great even if Kword is not that good importing M$ Office documents as Abiword is. -- -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
