I just installed gaim 0.60 via apt here and seems that the sounds (arrive.wav for example) were not included in the package. Gaim is looking for these files in /opt/gnome2/share/sounds/gaim, however this directory doesn't exist. find couldn't find the files either. Anyone know why these files were left out? -- John LeMay KC2KTH Senior Enterprise Consultant NJMC | http://www.njmc.com | Phone 732-557-4848 Specializing in Microsoft and Unix based solutions

John, Try checking in your /home/<user>/.gaim directory for your sounds. The default sounds should be coming from there. Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.9.1i --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Nope, nothing there as far as sounds. I've actually extracted them from the gaim CVS tarball and dropped them in place. However, gaim needs a "command" to play the sounds. I wasn't sure what to use there! Is there a console util in SuSE that will play wav files? I'm familiar with "play", but it's not here. thanks for the reply! -- John LeMay KC2KTH Senior Enterprise Consultant NJMC | http://www.njmc.com | Phone 732-557-4848 Specializing in Microsoft and Unix based solutions

I think Gaim uses "esdplay" to do their sounds, but play should work as well, if you have it. Don't understand why "play" is not installed, I thought it was a default. You should be able to install it from your CDs though. Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.9.1i --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Oh, forgot to mention John, that there is a new build out today! 0.61-1 is available now, but requires the new GLIBC 2.3 and other Gnome2 stuff. I don't know if 0.60-1 requires the new things or not? I think all this will be supplied via SuSE 8.2, so will wait patiently. :o) Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.9.1i --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

And when 8.2 comes out, there'll even be a SuSE-specific RPM available from www.usr-local-bin.org :) -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1).
