I looked this up on google and the suse support database (anyone else notice how lame the suse support db has become ?) and didn't find anything useful. Prior to upgrading to 9.2 Pro I had been able to do FTP uploads to the web sites I manage. After upgrading to 9.2 FTP upload transfers lock up all the time -- it looks like maybe the client is waiting for an acknowledgement from the server that never arrives. I was able to use WS_FTP on my wife's WinXP box to upload files, but I don't want to have to start using Windows. After turning off the Suse firewall, FTP worked fine. I thought maybe there was some kind of interaction between the DSL router and the firewall, but FTP from the WinXP box works in spite of having the Symantec/Norton firewall running. I'm not looking forward to just relying on the DSL router's firewall, so I'd like to keep the Suse Firewall running on my PC. I've done the obvious and used Yast to add ftp to the firewall's list of permitted ports and that didn't improve things. netstat indicated there were other ports being opened to the ftp server. I experimented by permitting the firewall to permit a large range of ports that would cover these connections and that didn't help either. Is there something else to mung with to get FTP uploads working?

Yes, I noticed, search seldom works. I end by checking the index of articles for a whole year and scan the list manually. I mean, with my own eyes. I was thinking of replicating it locally and then configure htdig to search the articles... previously there was an rpm for the sdb. It must be progress. :-/
