My box complains about not having a swap-partition though there is one :-)) This is in etc/fstab:
/dev/hda3 swap swap pri=42 0 0
What about this pri=42 ???
If I remember correctly, that has something to do with the mounting priority. I have the same exact thing (it's the 7.2 default). Try this:
cat /etc/mtab | grep -i swap
Information about swap is not in /etc/mtab but in /proc/swaps in 7.2: # cat /proc/swaps Filename Type Size Used Priority /dev/hda3 partition 200804 148 42 Check that the swap partition exists: # fdisk /dev/hda ... /dev/hda3 7 31 200812+ 82 Linux swap ... If it exists, try to enable it manually (see swapon(8)): # /sbin/swapon /dev/hda3 -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
(snip)
cat /etc/mtab | grep -i swap
Gives me nothing !! root@linux:/home/wolfi > cat /etc/mtab | grep -i swap root@linux:/home/wolfi >

# cat /proc/swaps

Check that the swap partition exists: # fdisk /dev/hda ... /dev/hda3 7 31 200812+ 82 Linux swap
Yes it is there: ..... /dev/hda3 140 205 530145 82 Linux swap
# /sbin/swapon /dev/hda3
This gives me: root@linux:/home/wolfi > /sbin/swapon /dev/hda3 swapon: /dev/hda3: Invalid argument So, unluckily no fix up to now! Thanks guys for your suggestions. What was the swap entry in 7.1, 7.0, or so ??? Can anyone look up this ??? I would like to check this out because then it did work !! Pri=42 is nothing but a tribute to the late Douglas Adams I presume :-)) Cheers ... Wolfi ================================== mailto:wolfi_z@web.de
HI, How about.. /dev/hda3 swap swap defaults 0 0 I've never seen that pri=42 and the above is from my 7.1 install. Mike On Sunday 08 July 2001 09:16, you wrote:

Thank you, I changed it that way, but: Unluckily this isn't working either :-(( The results remain the same as stated in the posting before ... Wolfi ================================== mailto:wolfi_z@web.de
