I'm using wvdial to auto-dial to my ISP when i need to. That's working and all is cool. However, the link *never* goes down until i run /sbin/init.d/wvdial.dod stop|restart. I would like some help on getting this combo to start and drop the link as required. I'm using the default timeout - 180 seconds - and i've also monitored the interface - ppp0 - via tcpdump. There aren't any packets being sent back & forth except those from pppd checking if the link is still up. I'm assuming that since these packets are being sent by pppd it'd know and cater for that. - Am i wrong here? Any help would be great as it's becoming a right regular pain in the behind.
