I sent a "plain text" in response from Gmail. I didn't get a rejection message but it never made the list. I never saw it over on this account. From what I understand this is a feature of gmail - it does not display the mail you sent to a list. Everybody else can see it but you won't see it. The only time you will see it is when someone responds to it and quotes your original message. BC -- Bob Hope's wife: "Where would like to be buried when you die?" ah, this makes "sense," of course. gmail likes to do things differently, and since the need of the hour seems to be to unburden users by 'thinking for them,' often without telling them about it, gmail took it upon themselves to lighten our inbox by swallowing your posts. great! -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I WILL get this working once I can wrap my head around it all. Right
now my mind is also on magnetic loop antennas and getting one to work
optimally across the Pacific ocean.

Even though I do have a gmail account I do not use it. There may now be a way to make your mail being displayed so I suggest one looks carefully at the options available in 'your' account. i also use gmail, but only for my personal mail, not forum- and listmail. and then i don't use the web interface, but fetchmail & SMTP from my desktop. i looked through the available options just now and didn't find any setting that would influence if or not my own post to a list are shown in my inbox though. IMO the easiest solution would be to handle list mail from a different email account, and, if desired, forward that to gmail, so it's available on whatever devices you want to use. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I use gmail but only to receive list mail. I post by relaying via my isp using a gmail "From:" address. yes, that would do it. this way gmail doesn't notice it's you; and should be possible on mobile devices, too, to configure a separate mail server for outgoing mail. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Actually in my Android tablet I remove all the Google spyware (you add your Google account to download no-cost app in the market and it AUTOMATICALLY starts to sync all your data from Google: gmail, calendar, contacts, etc) and add Gmail account as IMAP+SMTP. When I send messages to the list from there, those messages do show up when I view the gmail website. -- Med Vennlig Hilsen, A. Quite possibly activate Gmail IMAP service and use a client which allows you to send mail on its terms, such as text, foregoing the use of the webmail interface through a browser. -Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the response, but I am not the one having a problem :-) . I use Thunderbird and have never written any posts using the browser (Firefox) :-) . Just upgraded my M5 kernel to 3 and nvidia drivers to 280.13. Desktop effects are good now (was having lots of problems) but I am still having a problem with cursor and keyboard lag. Kind of hard to tell where I am on the screen and typing characters is kind of funky with the delay. My apologies. -Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't know what your system is like (CPU, RAM, whatever) but here are a couple of thoughts: do you have Nepopuke running? and which version of Firefox are you running? The reason about asking the last question is that FF versions earlier than #7 are 'memory hogs'. And re Nepopuke, it takes up memory when it trying to scan your system for files to add to its db. I had hassles with cursor lag before I went to FF #8/#9 - and I do not have/never had Nepopuke active; the cursor lag seemed to occur when I was either getting mail (Thunderbird) or when FF was refreshing a web page. But my system is a 32-bit system with 1.5GB of RAM. Nevertheless, I have never had hassles until recently. (Define "recently" et alia, you ask. I cannot. I am using the kernel which came with 11.4 and this kernel has not been upgraded even though the kernel is now at version 3.x - and I am not going thru the crap of using some mumbo-jumob repository to upgrade same. If such an important application as the kernel cannot be upgraded automatically by the repositories used in 11.4 then that is a damn shame - not to mention a disgrace. The kernel was 'hacked' a few days ago - see http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2105947/hackers-break-linux-kernel-home?WT.rss_f=&WT.rss_a=Hackers+break+into+Linux+kernel+home - but where is the patch to close this?) But to be brutally honest, I don't know what was causing my "lags" as even now I get the occasional message telling me that the kernel had an "'oops, kernel, panic attack'" - and then, in most cases followed by the whole system freezing -- as well as the system randomly freezing with no "woopsy" messages: everything just freezes. This has been going on for quite a while since I installed 11.4 so I am used to it and just simply hit the RESET button and carry on..... A KDE game I am playing suddenly comes up with an "Ooopsy! This is embarrassing.... Would you like to report this so that we can fix it?". I answer, "Yes"; I get to the bit which asks if I can provide what I was doing when the "Ooopsy" occurred and I answer "Yes"......and the system locks up solid. NOTE: I am not complaining, folks.....just stating what I have experienced. I guess once you have gotten used to the BSoD in Windows then after a while similar behaviour elsewhere simply becomes expectable and therefore runs like water off a duck's back. And if you are wondering.....yes, I am having a 'bad hair day' :-D . BC -- Bob Hope's wife: "Where would like to be buried when you die?" So far I've been lucky wrt Nepomuk. After the initial setup it now only runs an intense scan for about 20 seconds on desktop startup, then it's out of the way. System is a lowly Athlon II X4 630 with a fair overclock, 4GB RAM, and a Palit GTS-450 video card with dual monitors. [snip]

[snip] Well, this is really me just being a version whore testing out the 12.1 Milestone 5. I seem to have KDE 4.7.1 now with some new code in KWin. Having much better luck wrt desktop effects and nvidia driver. Last thing left was the mouse and keyboard lag - I just found if I change the compositing from OpenGL to Xrender this lag is gone completely! But we are drifting way OT here, so I think I'll call it quits on this thread for now.
