[opensuse] [Bug 557718] ifconfig shows IPV6 address even if it is disabled
--- Comment #1 from Marcus Schaefer <ms@novell.com> 2009-11-27 11:16:57 UTC --- ip -f inet addr show ==> ipv4 only ip -f inet6 addr show ==> ipv6 only ip addr show ==> always both
I'm sorry but I'm not going to change this as many people rely on the behavior and the output. See also the discussion in #492665 to get an impression on how difficult it is to change the default behavior of net-tools
Ah, so, if I underrstand correctly, the net-tools behaviour did change between 11.1 and 11.2. If I issue ip addr show on any of my 11.1 machines I get only the inet4 address (inet6 beeing disabled). I haven't seen anything about that important change in the release notes... Regards, luciano. -- /"\ /Via A. I never disable ipv6, but I assume no ipv6 addresses are allocated when ipv6 is disabled - which would imply that 'ip addr' cannot show any ipv6 addresses either. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (2.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
