I tried updating Synaptic and got an error during download of updates (sorry, I can't remember what it was), but now I can't even start Synaptic. I keep getting the following errors.... could not open RPM package list file /var/state/apt/lists/ftp.gwdg.de_pub_linux_suse_apt_SuSE_8.0-i386_base_pkglist.packman-i386: Problem opening /var/state/apt/lists/ftp.gwdg.de_pub_linux_suse_apt_SuSE_8.0-i386_base_pkglist.packman-i386 The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. This happened to me once before and the solution made me thump my head. I just can't remember it. Thanks, Tom --- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems, Inc. 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

Try removing the packman-i386 from /etc/apt/sources.list then rerunning apt-get update. -- Franklin Maurer Using SuSE 8.1

Also, try grabbing a fresh copy of the sources.list file from http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ since there have been a few changes made to the repository. --Jerry Open-Source software isn't a matter of life or death... ...It's much more important than that!
