RE: [SLE] XFCE (stupid) QUESTION
in bash : declare -x WINDOWMANAGER="/usr/X11R6/bin/xfwm". SuSE will have set $WINDOWMANAGER to kde. Use SET / EXPORT in non-bash shells. On Friday, February 25, 2000 2:27 PM, Chris Reeves [SMTP:chris.reeves@iname.com] wrote:

Ok, another stupid question.....
I downloaded xfce3 and want to use it. But when I try to do the following
startx xfce
KDE insists on loading (Thanks to the person that told me startx accepts parameters as such!!!!!). I would have thought that xfce would have run in the same manner as gnome (startx gnome).
BTW: this is on a SuSE 6.3 system.
Do you have xfce installed? If X can't find the specified window manager, it may well just decide to load up your default, rather than giving you a nice error message.
