Greetings All, I have a USB Keyboard, mouse and all-in-one printer. When my machine starts up, it recognizes all except the printer (printer powered on before system startup). If I wait until the system is up before I power on the all-in-one, it sometimes registers on printer power up, but not always. However, if I do an `/etc/init.d/hotplug restart` after the system has come up then it recognizes all devices. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Can anyone explain to me what is going on here? System description: SuSE 8.2 Pro Epson Stylus CX5200 Thanks, Darrell

Check at www.linuxprinting.org. Specifically http://www.linuxprinting.org/ show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-Stylus_CX5200. Detailed info on what needs to be done. You may need to recompile the kernel, get the latest SANE release, etc. Stan

Perhaps somewhat similar problem here: I have an HP all-in-one printer. After having the computer booted in Win2K and then rebooting into Linux, I have to power the printer off then back on, in order to force the modules to be loaded. This is a known problem with HPs, maybe with Epson and even other USB printers? -- Mitch Thompson, San Antonio TX // WB5UZG Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) http://home.satx.rr.com/mlthompson Independent Amsoil Dealer http://amsdealer.webhop.biz wget -O - http://home.satx.rr.com/mlthompson/pubkey.gpg | gpg --import -- There are many ways to measure success; not the least of which is the way your child describes you when talking to a friend." --Unknown
