Yesterday I discovered a strange problem with my SuSE 8.1 box at work. I logged out of KDE, and then tried to log in as root. It tells me that the login is incorrect. However, as a user, I can su to root using the same password. I can even change
I'm using KDE 3.1.1 which I installed via YOU. And no, I cannot Ctl+Alt+F1 and login as root. Also, when I open YAST2, it asks me for the root password, and this works just fine. What KDE are you using? Did you build from konstruct? That happened to me when I used the construct KDM. I just scratched my head and decided it wasn't worth trying to figure out. Can you Ctl+Alt+F1 and login as root?
