Hi, Does anyone know of the status of resizing XFS file systems? Last I knew, XFS could be grown but not shrunk. Is this still the case? I am interested mostly in this for resizing of LVM volumes. Thanks... -- Marc C. http://blog.mecworks.com

I have not heard of it adding that capability and per Wikipedia it still can't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XFS Greg -- Greg Freemyer The Norcross Group Forensics for the 21st Century
Don't hold your breath for this change. I know of no plans to add this capability. It would be rare for most people to need this as disk costs keep dropping and people are more likely to expand a partition than shrink it. If you need to shrink it, best to backup the contents (or copy it someplace else), then destroy and recreate the partition at the new, smaller size. Linda Adam Tauno Williams wrote:
