Hi all, I have just finished installing SuSE 8.2 Pro on my system & am having login problems with the default installation of Squirrelmail. When I attempt to log in I get an error that the username or password is incorrect & the following line appears in the system log: imapd[19063]: Login disabled user=jasmine auth=jasmine host=localhost [127.0.0.1] I am using the default SuSE install of IMAP4, POP2 and POP3 mail server. Any help is great help! I am using the default SuSE install of IMAP4, POP2 and POP3 mail server .
There has been a thread on this list about this recently, it turns out the version of
IMAPD supplied with SuSE 8.2 was compiled with the option to only work with
encryption.
I have downloaded the source and attempted to complile it without sucess. In
desparation I copied the program from a SuSE 8.0 server I have, this works
perfectly on SuSE 8.2 with evolution and squirrelmail.

I experienced the same, I have tryed to update the IMAP from Suse to the new version -45 insted of -36, but with the same result. There must be a bug in IMAP both versions in suse release 8.2, so if somebody have a solution on this it will be nice. Thanks for you hint about to take the IMAPD from a version 8.1 and just copy this in /usr/sbin then it works. Hi Tage, Copying the /usr/sbin/imapd from a SuSE 8.1 rpm worked like a charm. Thanks to you & everyone for help with this, Jasmine On Mon, 19 May 2003 04:41 am, Tage Danielsen wrote:

FYI, this is how I setup imap to work on SuSE8.2 so that I could log in. Firstly I added the following section to /etc/xinetd.d/imap # imaps - imap mail daemon with ssl service imaps { socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = root server = /usr/sbin/imapd flags = IPv4 } # Then I created a new ssl certificate with: openssl req -new -x509 -nodes -out imapd.pem -keyout imapd.pem -days 365 The resulting file is called imapd.pem which I then copied to /etc/ssl/certs. And bingo authentication worked. I'm using Kmail 1.5.1 and I can't make new imap folders, but I can from Mozilla. Anyone know if this is just not yet developed in kmail yet, or we need to do some voodoo to make it work. Thanks, Jethro
