Maybe the "Tone Generator" Audio I/O plugin inside XMMS? [Options -> Prefs ->Audio I/O -> "Tone Generator"] ?? jk -- Every day above ground is a good day.

Cant help yu there. mine works fine and no seg fault. Maybe you got an old or bad version. I think I got mine from Packman which is a good list for lotsa SuSEfied things. Richard
