[opensuse] Piping through a file
I'm using vncrec (package vncrec-twibright) to record some rather lengthy vnc sessions and now I want to encode them into some format that will allow me to skip ahead in the viewing to a particular point (some variation of MPG I suppose). I've installed the transcode package to do that. The output of vncrec that is suitable for input into transacode is HUGE, several GB for just a few minutes of recording. I'd like to pipe it into transcode, but as far as I can see, and experimentation shows, transcode only reads from a file or device. Is there some way to output from vncrec to some kind of pseudo device or file that will really pipe into transcode, so that I don't fill up my hard drive? Use a named pipe: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/2156 Charles -- "Never make any mistaeks." (Anonymous, in a mail discussion about to a kernel bug report.)
