[opensuse] Trying to change list subscription to 'nomail'
Hello, I'm trying to change my list subscription to 'nomail' as I generally read and post to most mailing lists via gmane.org as a nntp-mail gateway. On many mailing lists I can go to a web page for subscribers and change my delivery options there; for this list it appears I have to do this by sending commands to the mailing list software. That'd be fine... if it worked. I tried sending a mail to 'opensuse+subscribe-nomail@opensuse.org', but I just get a message back saying I'm already subscribed. Okay, fair enough. So I send a message to 'opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org', and responded to the verification email. Yay. Then I sent another email to 'opensuse+subscribe-nomail@opensuse.org' but I still got a response that I was already subscribed?. So, I sent another email to 'opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org', which responded telling me I wasn't subscribed, therefore I couldn't unsubscribe?!? Sent another subscription request, which responded that I was already subscribed... etc. Any ideas how to get out of this loop? TIA, Monte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Nomail is not an option as such, it is sort of treated as a different list. To get unmail: Unsubscribe from current list, then subscribe to the nomail version. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-5.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That's what he said he'd tried in his original mail, wasn't it? But it didn't work. Or do you mean something different? Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Dave I skipped the bit about he'd tried or not :-) - I know that unsubscribe+subscribe works. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-2.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And I missed that he'd already succeeded and just didn't realize it :) Luckily Henne was awake! Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

opensuse+COMMAND is not the same as opensuse+COMMAND-nomail. So you mix subscribing and unsubscribing from two different "lists". But you have achieved what you need/want. You are now unsubscribed from the general list and apparently you where already subscribed to the nomail version. So everything is fine. Next time you should ask these questions not on this list but simply send a mail to the owner (opensuse+owner@opensuse.org). Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE.
