Hi, I have dug out my old scanner. A Tiny FU318D. The scanner powers up fine. It was last used with Windows 98SE in 2006 I have plugged it in and is does not show in SimpleScan scanimage -L does not find any scanners lsusb shows it as: Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0461:0340 Primax Electronics, Ltd Colorado 9600 Scanner This is the first scanner I have come across that doesn't 'Just work' in Linux. Does anyone know how I can go about diagnosing the problem and getting the scanner to work? I wouldn't know where to start on this one. I've done some cursory Googling. It doesn't look good. First, the name "Primax" was used for a lot of different models of incompatible scanners. Most of the web pages are now dead and gone. It's not supported in SANE: http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/primax-colorado-usb-9600.html This tells you a bit about it: http://primax.sourceforge.net/index.html It says you need "pxscan". Apparently this sort of works: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/primax-scanner-dr... There is or was a package for Ubuntu: https://antixlinux.com/forum-archive/how-to-install-driver-for-scanner-prima... It provided this command: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/precise/man1/primaxscan.1.html If you can find that package, you might be able to install it with ``alien''. This might help: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/438770-Primax-Colorado-9600 -- Liam Proven - Technical Writer, SUSE Linux s.r.o. Googling it seems it's even difficult to find drivers for Windows... I was about to suggest Vuescan (https://www.hamrick.com), but their supported scanner list does mention neither Tiny nor Primax. Still, there's a free test version for download, you might try. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
