I haven't needed to do this in awhile, but at one time I could alt+f2 into a console. Yast2 (ughh gross nasty why did yast have to leave us...) keeps complaining about parted's inability to re-partition a disk... I know fdisk will do it. An ah HA moment: http://www.mail-archive.com/bug-grub@gnu.org/msg07886.html This is an obvious problem and should have been found in QA. Just a note to help anyone in the same situation out. This is 8.2. Haven't gotten around to buying 9 yet. -- http://www.4am-media.com Mac OS X Consulting and Training Michael Bartosh mbartosh@4am-media.com 303.517.0272 Denver, CO "The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher regard those who think alike than those who think differently." - -- Nietzsche Think Different.
I'm running 8.2. I can boot from CD or floppy, manually choose my modules, and then choose "boot from installed system" and boot fine from my disk, which is in a Sun D1000 hosted on a sym53c8xx. However- when I try to boot from the bootloader, 0's and 1's fill about half of my screen and the machine freezes. I've tried putting the bootloader in various places. Still doesn't work. Machine is a Penguin Computing dual P111 850 2u box. Not sure about the chipset. Also- is there any way to boot a DP kernel off the CD? Booting the SP kernel there means I can't make use of my second processor, since I can't boot off the HD.
Hello I have a little Sony Picture Book and I've purchased a D-Link Air-Xpert AGb DWL-AG650. Despite vast expereince in general networking, thisis my first wireless card, which I'm fairly certain should work, but I have no idea on how to install it. Yast seems to not see it and I'm doubting that I have the needed Kernal modules. It's runnign a 2.4 kernel. I can't seem to find any docs on getting this up and running. Can someone give me some pointers?
