[SuSE Linux] SUSE Linux 6.1, compiling APACHE package

Hi folks, I had installed the apache package from the distribution CDs. Today I upgraded to 1.3.6 from ftp.suse.de. I still have a problem: actually I wanted to use PHP3 with IMAP support. This was not and is still not compiled into your binary release package. So, I tried to compile PHP3 with new options. At the final step the tool 'apxs' fails because its internal configuration (LD_SHLIB, etc.) is bad. apxs should link with some library which should be included with the apache binaries, but I also cannot find this library. Furthermore I cannot fully determine how you have 'configure'd apache for compilation for the binary distribution, so I believe, I cannot compile it without messing up with the package manager. I would highly appreciate clarification of the above. Additionally, why don't you include IMAP support in the PHP3 binaries by default ? This might help a lot of users in this area.
