You make it sound so easy......:-) But I think I'll try Mutt first.
I know the guy who wrote the mail how-to recommends using fetchmail as you describe.
Of course I make it sound easy. As I indicated, I have not done it yet myself. :) But the only difficult part would be to make the cron-script right, and even that can not be _that_ difficult... I hope. (something like grep the ouput from ifconfig... or check for the log file my ppp-on creates (and my ip-down removes)) I already have the ~/.fetchmailrc done. The man-page is really good, and gives a couple of nice examples near the end. The only options to fetchmail I need to use are: -k if I don't want the messages to be deleted from the server and -I to check for ppp. Anyways, good luck to you whichever method you use. At least linux offers a lot of different ways to do what you want. I am even considering trying to run Nettamer under dosemu. ;-) Talk about desperation. I guess that a linux version of Nettamer would be my ideal solution. I am not sure if you are familiar with it, but it is a standalone internet package for dos. It dials, does ppp, email sends, receives , and edits; and it even has a lynx-style web browser. I'm sure that in a year or two, some bright programmer will develope the same sort of thing for linux. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
