[opensuse] computer doesn't turn off from vt8 - bug?
Hello: This is in openSUSE Leap 42.2 with KDM4 login manager and KDE3 desktop. First user logs in at vt7 and second user at vt8. Then first user logs out, second user stays logged in. When second user logs out and chooses turn off computer, the screen becomes blank but the computer stays on, doesn't turn off. Both vt7 and vt8 become blank, there is no login screen anymore. The computer only turns off when I switch to vt1 by pressing ctrl+alt+F1. Is this a bug? I would expect that the computer turns off when second user logs out and clicks turn off computer. Istvan, I've seen this behavior in the past on vt7 as well. IIRC it has to do with a systemd lock that remains active preventing full shutdown. (I don't recall which app the lock belonged to) There was a discussion a while back on this issue and how no application should be able to place an infinite lock preventing shutdown. Hopefully others can fill in the holes in my memory. -- David C. Istvan,

Hopefully others can fill in the holes in my memory. At the time I had this with "su" and filed a bug. But it was not so sure that systemd was the culprit. SDDM manager can be also the cause. Try one thing. when in VT 8 (and it does not shut down), switch to tty1 with ctrl + F1 and back to VT8. Does it shutdown then? This behavior I had it with KDE4 for a long time. Plasma is not really so much better, it will not shut down when secure settings are selected. Even if you set it to do so. You may try also lightdm as bootmanager that may solve the issue. Sometimes.
