[opensuse] ACPI on OS 11.4 LXDE
Hi, I just installed OS 11.4 64bit with LXDE on a virtual machine using the LiveCD. One thing I cannot find is the interface to set the power management settings (e.g. timer before going in suspend mode, hibernation, etc.). I found the power management of the monitor in the xscreensaver dialog but nothing else. Where should I look? Is there an additional package that I need to install? I don't know from lxde's menu but from the cl: systemsettings --> power management -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I must be missing something. Here's what I got: jeancf@linux-c8p9:~> systemsettings If 'systemsettings' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this: cnf systemsettings jeancf@linux-c8p9:~> cnf systemsettings The program 'systemsettings' can be found in following packages: * kdebase4-workspace [ path: /usr/bin/systemsettings, repository: zypp (repo-oss) ] * kdebase4-workspace [ path: /usr/bin/systemsettings, repository: zypp (openSUSE-11.4-Oss) ] Try installing with: sudo zypper install kdebase4-workspace It seems to indicate that systemsettings is part of KDE4 which is not installed. /~jc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sorry, I use KDE and didn't research the command enough. I also have little experience with laptops and power management, still old-school w/desktops. A quick google provided no insight, sorry. Perhaps someone else will contribute. gud luk, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Argh!, for some reason GMail chose to reply to JC only so sorry for posting this twice AFAIK there's nothing for LXDE if you want a gui tool you're going to need to install either xfce4-power-manager or gnome-power-manager. You'll probably need to start them from the terminal . Otherwise there's a good article here http://www.spencerstirling.com/computergeek/powersaving.html On how to configure your system to achieve the same using the sleepd daemon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
