I just saw on /. that OOo 3.0 is out. Now, the site has a 403 error, so I can't get to it at the moment. However, the slashdot article (http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/10/13/1211224) says that a major improvement is OOXML format support. I have OOo 2.3 from openSUSE. I often open, edit and save Word and Excel 2007 documents with little issue: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/POS_Distribution_20080918_cp20081006.... http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20081013_ooo_xlsx.jpg In fact, my only complaint is with the reviewing and commenting ability. It is still not perfect. (At which point I resort to Word running under VMWare.) I'm assuming that Novell/openSUSE maintain a seperate version of OOo that has this feature already. Therefore, is there a plan to migrate to the new version or is openSUSE going to just leave it alone? -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com government is a process which utilizes 45.5% gut reaction, 45.5% laws and statutes and 1% logic

I try the beta version from repo http:/download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/UNSTABLE/openSUSE_11.0/ I cannot complaint anything and it's usable. So the release version should be great. It still missing opensuse/novell branding though. Anyway the opensuse version of oo is based on go-oo.org, so maybe it takes a while before the release version. regards, medwinz -- Charles M. Oh, I had no idea. Very cool. I looked at the site. Doing a whois, I find that it is at least remotely connected to Novell: kai@xwing:~> whois go-oo.org Domain ID:D105535482-LROR Registrant Name:Michael Meeks Registrant Organization:Novell, Inc. Registrant Street1:Revel Cottage Cool! To any devs out there - I very much like having the MS integration. Working in a MS-dominant shop, it would be very frustrating otherwise. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com government is a process which utilizes 45.5% gut reaction, 45.5% laws and statutes and 1% logic -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
