Hi all.... I'm not sure where the problem is. I've got an old Sound Blaster 16 card in my system. I have my radio plugged into it as "line in". I can hear the radio over my screen speakers. I can play mp3/wav files without problem with Xmms. But when I try to record something from the radio using krecord all I get are blank files. The files are not empty, only no sound. Any ideas? You need to set up the capturing options in Kmix HTH Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet

Could you give me more info? I looked at Kamix and set the sliders all to 100 & x the lock box. What else is there? TIA JIM

There is a "capture" tab where you can chose the source and capture level - it's work here for recording anything which came out of the speakers but as usual YMMV Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet

Try this command: amixer -c 0 sset Line,0 60%,60% unmute cap - Jostein -- Jostein Berntsen <jbernts@broadpark.no>

I'm using 9.0 and trying to record radio programmes from the internet.. I have set kmix to capture and saved the files from krecord. As per Jim the files are not empty but I get no sound. Should I try the same command ? Thanks Mike

I'm now using 9.1 and still cannot play radio streams recorded from BBC radio via internet. Your recommended command doesn't work for me, perhaps because I am recording direct from the net rather than via a line in connection. I can capture the wav file but get no sound from xmms or mp3blaster. Any ideas? Mike

What happens if you try to run 'aplay.wav file.wav' from the command line? Any error messages? - Jostein -- Jostein Berntsen <jbernts@broadpark.no>

HI Michael, There are some software for this, but off the top of my head I don't know the names. On the other hand a hardware hack I know of would most likely work. In your "LINE OUT" cable splice in another pin plug. Now put that plug into your "LINE IN". You should now be able to record and listen at the same time. You could take a normal pin plug cable and put one end "IN" and the other "OUT". You could still record, but not hear what is on the radio.
