Hello SuSE Team:
Just a simple thanks for making life easy. Have been monitoring the
KDE news
site and watching all the problems people are having with the kde install on RedHat 5.0; especially the PAM issue and all the problems it causes with Kdm. Read everything and was rather timid to attempt this rather length tango as I preferr the two step as a nubie.
Out of curiosity, what are KDE and Kdm
KDE is a new desktop or window manager or combination of things that provide an interesting and quite easily modifiable interface through click and drag. SuSE has made available all of the rpm's to install the window manager/desktop/programs/games/utilities/etc from their ftp site. So that answers your second question as well... SuSE does support rpm program management. Check out www.kde.org for some information on kde and what they are doing with it plus links to applications specifically written for kde.
My solution was to go to your ftp site, download the new kdebase
rpm, activate
Yast and TADA......total time 5 minutes.
BTW, does S.u.S.E Linux use RPM?
