[S.u.S.E. Linux] Mounting floppy
Ok, I have edited my fstab to add user's for mounting the floppy. But no matter what I do anytime some user attempts to mount the floppy, SuSE 5.2 replies you must be root to do that. How can I make it so users can mount the floppy? This is a work linux setup for three of us doing development, so security isn't the big issue, convince is. You should probably have posted your /etc/fstab file so that we can check it out. I am able to mount my floppy with the following line in my fstab: /dev/fd0 /fd0 ext2 ro,noauto, user 0 0 for ext2 floppies, and /dev/fd0 /a msdos ro,noauto, user 0 0 for msdos floppies. luck, Mark --- punt wrote:

In my S.u.S.E.-5.1 /etc/fstab I have, for instance, /dev/fd0 /A: msdos rw,user, noauto, suid and /etc/fstab is rw-r--r--. With these settings, non-root users can do mount /A: with no problems.
