Hello I have a home PC from which I connect to ISP . I am running SuSE 6.3. Till now , my hostname was linux.local But i went and obtained a dynamic dns from dyndns.org. So I changed my hostname to www and the domain name to cheedu.dyndns.org ( for that was my name there). Now every time i connect to an isp , i use a package called ddup to update my ip address there. But when i telnet on to my system from outside using my ip address, it works ok ; but when i use my domain name it asks for a password and no login name and all my passwords that i enter are wrong. Any solutions/ideas/brainwaves?? cheers cheedu -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Well, you're almost perfect. But don't use www as a hostname. Go in Yast, and change your hostname to cheedu, and shorten the domain name to dyndns.org Thereafter, your complete DNS infos will be right all the time, provided that DD-UP is properly configured. Good luck. /NB ________________ Nicolas Beaulieu Economics Department, Universite Laval Centre de Recherches en Economie et Finances Appliquees (CREFA) Quebec, Canada mailto:nicolas.beaulieu@ecn.ulaval.ca _________________ http://www.penguinpowered.com/~montesquieu ICQ 15933500 _________________ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
