Re: [SuSE Linux] kppd - Modem USR Modem string?
Thanks for the quick reply. No luck, however. I don't get any "ok" response from the modem, so everything just hangs... Even powering-off the modem to reset it seems to have no effect. When I went back into windows, I also seemed to have a problem until I reinstalled the modem. I wonder if this is some 'plug and pray' problem? -----Original Message----- From: Dana J. Hi everyone - does anyone have a modem init string that will work for a

I'd try firing up minicom and then this:
ATS0=0S2=255S11=55X4&C1&D2&W <enter> <-- you should get a OK response from your modem after hitting the enter key. Also, make sure minicom is setup to reflect your correct baud rate. (i.e., 19200, 36000, 57600, 115200.) PRIOR to the above init string. This use a init string of ATZ.

It sounds like an irq conflict somewhere. Windows will reassign irqs if it needs to, but linux won't. Check your bios settings for the com ports and make sure they are what you want. If you are using an external modem, you are probably connected to com2, and your bios setting for com2 should be irq3, 02F8 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
